Freaky Frights On Forest

About Us

Freaky Frights On Forest, located between 2200-2300 blocks of Forest Avenue in North Riverside, Illinois, includes animated props, spooky sound effects, creepy lighting, classic monsters, fog filled graveyards, multimedia projection, original props and more. This is done with the help and assistance of friend's, families and gracious neighbors who all have a love for the spooky holiday and spreading the enjoyment to others.

FFOF's main focus is for the many children that live in and around the western suburbs. Many relocated from the inner city public housing communities, others from the working class. FFOF puts this all on for FREE. There are many Halloween events in the Chicagoland area, but none for free, or at this scale. FFOF does this purely for the thrill and enjoyment of others. This can be an expensive night of entertainment for some, especially for large families with 4 or more children. With the average cost of a haunted attraction being between $20-30 dollars it can add up fast.

How can we do this? Mostly it's supported by us the community. But we do accept tip from gracious guests. If you like what we do, let us know. We have a tip box that you can drop of a friendly note or a couple dollars to keep it all going. You can email us or even Facebook us too!

FFOF has been around officially since 2003. Before that, it was in other forms including separate locations across Illinois for decades before.

Planning for FFOF is an all year round event starting with attending conventions, building and ordering the goods, planning the event and more. The actual Halloween pre production begins in mid summer, with the building of props and set scenes so they can be ready in time for the first weeks of October. The street and home set ups start the first weekends of October each year. The final production is usually up and running 100% by the middle of the month of October and lasts till the first weekend of November.

Even more unique to the attraction is the over two-dozen custom made creatures, live actors and special exhibits. We'll save those surprises for your personal visit.

It used to be hundreds of people from across the Chicagoland area visit each year. Now it's grown internationally. We've had visitors from as far as New York, California and even Norway! Every year gets better that the last.

Thanks to all that make this possible!

The days of operation are generally from the first weekend in October through the first weekend in November. This attraction is most definitely a night attraction. Usually starting up everything around dusk and keep it on till around 10 or 11 PM. Weekends are longer and depend on the flow of traffic. As most people know about Chicago weather, it can change within a moments notice. Since FFOF is an entirely outdoor attraction they may be closed if extreme winds and or rains hit.

FFOF is designed with children ages 5 and up, but beware. There are some horror themed sights that may be too scary for even 50 year olds!

FFOF is not responsible for accidents of any kind. Please enter at your own risk. We also ask that you please do not touch or take any living or dead. We want others to enjoy Freaky Frights On Forests for years to come.

So come by and check us out. If you see any of us out working on stuff, come up and say hi. We'd love to hear from you. After all, this is for you, the community of Horror fans alike.
